A transparent electromagnetic shield incorporating the transparent conductive film FineX® achieves both transparency and high shielding performance—something that has been difficult with conventional electromagnetic shielding films*. Because it supports a wide frequency range, it can be adapted to various applications. This article presents a demonstration verifying RFID reading behavior.
* Examples: ITO, metal mesh, conductive fibers, punched metal, metal foil, etc.
・Demonstration Overview
In this demonstration, we evaluate RFID reading behavior when a transparent electromagnetic shield incorporating the transparent conductive film FineX® is placed over tags positioned on an RFID antenna.
- Two types of tags (Banana / Candy) are placed on the RFID antenna
- Before placing the box, both tags are readable
- After placing the box, we observe how the reading results change
The reading results are displayed in real time in the lower-left corner of the screen.
・Demo Video
The following video shows only the actual behavior without explanatory captions.
Comparison: “Without” vs. “With Cover” (Conceptual Illustration)
Here, we compare the spread of radio waves emitted from the RFID antenna and the difference in reading results between “Without” and “With Cover (using a transparent electromagnetic shield box incorporating the transparent conductive film FineX®)”
* These are simplified conceptual illustrations. Actual electromagnetic field distributions vary depending on antenna shape, frequency, installation conditions, and surrounding objects.
Without Cover
Radio waves from the RFID antenna spread into the surrounding area, and both Banana and Candy tags are readable.

With Transparent Electromagnetic Shield Box Incorporating FineX®
Radio waves in the direction of the Candy tag are shielded, making communication difficult, and only the Banana tag is readable.
This demonstration confirms the behavior in which the Candy tag becomes unreadable due to this shielding effect.
・Summary
This demonstration confirmed that by using a transparent electromagnetic shield incorporating the transparent conductive film FineX®, it is possible in an RFID environment to shield radio waves (electromagnetic fields) in specific directions and potentially control the tag reading range.
The ability to achieve both transparency and shielding performance provides a new option for designing radio wave environments while maintaining visibility in RFID-based evaluation and testing environments.
